About us

Wildlife Rehabilitation of Hernando (WROH) was formed 11 years ago here in Spring Hill, Florida.  It was set up to provide a place for injured or orphaned wildlife to be brought to, given medical treatment, food and a chance to recover before being released back into the wild.  Orphaned animals are taken care of  and taught to be able to survive in the wild, and then given a soft release.  Red fox, gray fox, raccoons, opossums, flying squirrels, grey squirrels, fox squirrels, bobcats, snakes, turtles, coyotes, eagles, owls, hawks, ducks, deer and alligators are some of the animals that have been helped along in their life.

We are a family run facility, with everyone in the family doing their part. Ninety-five percent of funding comes from personal savings.  Volunteers help when things get to be too much.  We devote most of our days to the animals in our care and enjoy the chance to help them. Until recently, we were devoted mainly to native wildlife, as that is what was continuously brought to our facility.  But the need for proper homes for alot of exotic wildlife has grown so much in this country, that we have been taking in a large amount of non-native wildlife as well.

WROH continues to grow on a daily basis to try and help place discarded wildlife either at our facility or another facility that has room.  We are at a point where we need public support to continue with this effort and welcome any help that is offered. Visitors  are welcome to come and see what we do, offer suggestions  and help in any way they can.

Founder Jim Jablon has been working with animals of all types his entire life. For the past 15 years or so, Jim has been dedicated to helping  any animal that has come into harms way, be it by natural, or human causes: the latter being the most common way.  Over those 15 plus years, it has become apparent that exotic species of all types are also in dire need of help: help from living a life in small, dirty cages, undernurished, lacking in prpoer medical treatment, and an absence of NATURAL living conditions while in captivity.  Endangered species lists continue to grow as the world population rises and the animals are exploited and pushed out of the homes.

Our mission here is to help all we can and provide lifelong homes for these creatures and to help further the survival of them.  Every  effort is made to make their time on earth "QUALITY TIME!"
