Raccoons

AS NEWBORN

raccoons come into our facility, they are warmed up, medically asessed, fed and put to bed.  After 3-4 months, they are ready to go out into a non-family group, learn to socialize with others, and eventually go FREE!!!!!!!!!!!

4 MONTHS LATER,

he is out in with a group of ten or so, and we soon be on his way to YOUR garbage pail. ( Not really - we teach them to be very afraid of people before we release them back to the wild.)

Albino Raccoon

poses with his new caretaker, Jim , in his new spacious home along with 3 young "normal" raccoons that will, one day, be released back into the wild.  Sadly, the albino would never survive in the wild, and so he is at his permanant home where he will enjoy a good life!

His name, since you asked, is  STEWART.

Knuckles and his bud

Knuckles is one of three baby coons rescued alongside the injured mother.  When we brought them in the kits were only a week or so old and Momma decided to make a snack from the little guys toes.  She chewed one foot down to the knuckles, hense the name we gave him. Allen took knuckles under his care and rehabed him until he could be placed with the others.  As you can see, he was in great hands with his new found friends.

This is what nature and nurture look like in its truest form.  Knuckles is now a healthy Florida raccoon, and even though he's missing toes on one foot, he's climbing trees like the rest of them.  He is one of many scheduled for release in the near future.

You'll be missed knuckles, but we at WROH know you'll be happy running wild!
