PRIMATES

CHARLIE,

A Japeneese Snow Macaque, hangs out in the yard as a youngster.  Macaques are the northern most primate on the planet.  They are usually photographed sitting in hot springs in northern Japan.  As babys, they are sweet and loving: as adults they pack quite a punch. Charlie is 7 now and has reached manhood. He is now considered very dangerous.

BUT STILL CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ONE OF CHARLIE'S

walks around the property when he was about 5 yrs. old.   He loved going up the trees and filling his pouches with acorns....

MARY

Is Charlie's companion.  She is alot older, but was brought in from a breeding farm where she was kept with 11 other Macaques in a 20 x 20 cage: A HORRIBLE LIFE!  Now she runs a 2000 sq. ft. enclosure with a friend......AHHHHHH

SPIDER MONKEYS,

as they are called, live up to their name.  They travel quite fast and climb just like a spider.

Harry, to the left, was brought to us after it was discovered that he had some form of Downs Syndrome.  He was going to be destroyed because of the difficulties that his owner would face as he grew up.  We don't mind if he is alittle different than the rest:  We are all a little different in one way or another.

Dora, to the right, was brought in all malnurished and in a sickly state. She was close to passing when we got her.  She has, in time, become a good companion for Harry, for now.  We have had to since purchase a third one to be with Dora as she grows.  Harry will probably have to be  away from the others when they are adults, or they will sence his weakness and harass him.  But we will make sure he gets alot of extra TLC!
